The FAIR-2

The Fair is taking place in this week.

 I went to check our Green Room space in the morning and tidy up the desks or check the boxes. It seemed to be fine and there are always people enjoying their conversation which was good.

I joined ''once upon a time'' work shop today. It was quite difficult to make a story of the image which I cut from the books in the space while I was doing, I remembered that I used to play making story of photos or pictures when I was a child and also there was a typewriter on the desk! I liked playing with it. (my parents would be unhappy though.)   The project was a bit similar to my collage project so I really enjoyed it.

It should be rubbish normally but it looks something special. 

THE FAIR-1

In our group, we decided to do one project called ''Green Room''. Providing tea, coffee and space where people can  communicate  each other. In addition, we have decided to set up letter exchange boxes in the space. Each participant can fill out their name on an envelope, replace it with another artist's self-addressed envelope and fill it with whatever they would like.

 I  have been thinking about e-mail these days as currently, I am living in Edinburgh and using e-mail is completely one of my important communication tool but I found that I spend too much time on e-mail!
Also I thought when was the last time to write letter....? ''Letter Exchange'' I found it sounds good and nostalgic for me.

     
                                           

Collage-1

When I go to the main library or Q digital room to make photocopies or print out reading stuff. There is one thing makes me unhappy. It is that there are so much misprint paper. I didn't expect that I was be able to get idea from that but while I was working in the digital room, I collected them and looked what is printed on the paper which was interesting and I imagined other student's works or world, then I found that this feeling is similar to when I see someone's sketchbook. 


After that I went to the library and looked for some books related about sketchbooks. There were so many interesting ideas and I could understand what the artists like or think in these books. I have been interesting sketchbooks but I have never related with my works because of photography student. I guess my big preconception have been bothering my practice for a long time.


I started to think what I can do with my photos and using paper. Then I dyed paper and make photocopy on it. I like working in a darkroom and photo paper as well, but collage would be more interesting for me.

I was thinking one image of wave and the story of the waves.
It seems to be very dark and there is no proper story.Each scene is different and difficult to combine as whole story.
It was like dark whole.


I was just trying to figure out my own images.

Triad-1

We had triad this afternoon. Compare with the first triad, I have been getting used to do it but still now I often confuse while I am speaking. When I started the Everyday project, it was quite tough to keep it everyday but it has been part of my daily life now, and it is like ritual. I showed photos of November and December which cut postcard size. And our tutor suggested doing something different (not only date)on the photo would be more interesting e.g. news happened on the day so on. I am also thinking doing something related daily life on back of these photos. I am trying to make simple photocopy collage so it'd be good idea to do that on the back? 


In our group we missed one theory student so we had the meeting just two of us with tutor but we could discuss more freely (I guess..)
They give me good feedback and I need to progress and be clear what to do on the photos. 

C02project-4

Now, is life very solid or very shifting... Collision between three solitons traveling in the same direction.


It is our title of the waves project.
Actually I have not had any experiences of collaboration or work together with classmates. I was thinking when I needed to sing up for c02 project, how it would go...because I need to know other members characteristic and their taste of practices.I wonders that although I often get confused what I am doing, how I can consider others?? 


Fortunately, I could naturally joined Rima and Patricia, three of us are photography students and they are very close classmates. 
So before get to start my the waves project, I needed to know what how they will work for it. We made our blog for the project and I tried to get to know their idea and thought through it. 
Their images seem to be dark and I felt something very silence and darkness in the blog. (the novel also it's dark though...)
I guess I need to start to show specific images....

I got her novel "The Waves" in Japanese version from Japan. I read it at random and tried to get my first impression of that.To be honest, there were some words which I don't know even in Japanese but I thought that if I read it seriously and get to understand the story, my first inspiration would become something different. That's why I was reading at random and tried to get my image of waves from the book.


Also, I thought about just simple images of waves how wave has been related our life or some sentences related with wave so on...
And how I feel through the word of 'wave'?
I guess I need to make my ideas wider.

tutorial with Catriona

It should have had individual tutorial with Catoriona today.I was wondering whether she is well or not and I was waiting for her but unfortunately she didn't appear. Hope she will be fine.


What I was going to discuss is about photocopy. Since I have studied photograph I have been thinking that photograph should be printed on to photo paper which was almost my preconception however I sometimes feel that photo paper looks cold and too shiny and there seems to be gap between me and photo paper as a material.On the other hand when I touch normal paper I feel more familiar and get imagination and idea wider. So I thought I should consider using paper for my practice. And I am interested in materials around daily life which will be related with my everyday project.
